Seeking God

The Lord wants us to seek Him and not just pray.The Lord wants us to seek Him and not just pray.

Key scripture

(Mat 7:7)  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

(2Ch 7:14)  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Notice that each verse mentions prayer (asking) and seeking as two different words.

Definitions

Seek- to follow (for pursuit or search)

–  to worship: 

–  diligently, inquire

– make inquisition

– question, require, search, seek [for, out], X surely. – be (go) about, desire, endeavour, enquire (for), require, (X will) seek (after, for, means)

Prayer- Intercede- Make supplication
Both are important, but seeking will take us to a deeper intamacy with God.

Seeking
Seek first the kingdom of God

(Mat 6:33)  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you

Seek the face of God

(Psa 27:8)  When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

Parts of the Face

– Head – mind –  what are you thinking

(Php 2:5)  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:(1Co 2:16)  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

– Eyes – How do you see it

(Psa 32:8)  I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

– Mouth – What are you speaking

(Joh 15:15)  Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
(Psa 105:4)  Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

Seek the Lord

(Zep 2:3)  Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.

(Pro 8:17)  I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
(Psa 14:2)  The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
(Psa 24:6)  This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
(Isa 55:6)  Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
(Jer 29:13)  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
(Psa 105:4)  Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

The Rewards of Seeking Him

(Heb 11:6)  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe him.that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek 

We will live

(Psa 22:26)  The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.(Psa 69:32)  The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.(Amo 5:4)  For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:(Amo 5:6)  Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.

We will not be forsaken

(Psa 9:10)  And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Deliverance from Captivity

(Jer 29:14)  And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

Captivity – the things that keep us bound.
